Her Story- The Biography

A biography detailling Mariah's life has been released recently. The book, by music writer Chris Nickson, is called "Mariah Carey- Her Story", and is very supportive of Mariah. It gives a lot of fan interest details about each song she's recorded. Essentially it brings together all the articles and snippets about Mariah and her rise to fame, including details of her marriage to Tommy Mottola.

Carey Calendar 1996

Two Mariah Carey calendars are currently being produced for 1996. The most recent is due for US retail release in August. Both are unlikely to make it to Australia, unfortunately.

Summer Days

Mariah's new album is rumoured to be called Summer Days, and is due for release in early Spring. The first single from the album will be the up-tempo feel-good Fantasy, and is due for release this month. If it is anything like Mariah's previous offerings, it is likely to shoot to the top of the charts.

Boyz II Men

Mariah has done a new single with Boyz II Men. This will be the second single released after the debut track from Summer Days.

Single Statistics

Mariah has had 8 number 1 US singles, spending 28 weeks at number one. She is outscored by Whitney Houston, who has racked up 30 weeks, though with 30 songs. Madonna has only scored 28 weeks at number 1, while Janet Jackson only 21. Love Takes Time was Mariah's most popular song.

Album Statistics

Two of Mariah's four albums have gone to number 1 on the US albums chart. This compares favourably with Madonna's three out of ten, and Whitney Houstons two out of five. When Summer Days goes to number one later this year, Mariah will rival Janet Jackson's record of three out of four number one albums. Mariah has sold 25 million copies of her four albums, rivalling Madonna's sales of 32 million copies of her ten albums.

Songbird Mariah Carey twists, twirls and hides under her curls to keep the left side of her face away from the camera- because she thinks her right side looks better. When the 25-year-old pop diva spots paparazzi, she automatically turns to hide the left side. One exasperated photographer who shot the 5-ft. 9-in. singer for a magazine layout says: "She was like a contortionist, putting her body in these amazing positions just to hide what she thinks is her bad side."

When she's photographed head on, she pulls her hair over her left eye. Yet the Vision of Love-liness says: "I want to be taken seriously. I don't want people to say, 'Doesn't her body look great in this shot?' I want it to be, 'Don't you think she wrote a good song?' "

Her publicist Shawn McCormack says Mariah looks "gorgeous" from either side. "She simply thinks her right side is her better side."
